Newark Police officials are reporting that 1st Precinct Police Officers saved the life of a shooting victim by immediately transporting him to the hospital on Saturday.
Director Ambrose said the following in statement: “The life-saving actions of these officers demonstrated a personal care and concern for the victim that is commendable,” Director Ambrose said.
“I applaud the officers for taking the initiative to preserve this man’s life and to save a family from undue grief.”

According to police, shortly before 2 p.m., officers V. Ortiz and F. Rodriguez responded to the 300 block of Morris Avenue on a call of a shooting.
The responding officers located a man who had been shot.
Police say the victim stated that he was having difficulty breathing and was observed going in and out of consciousness.
In order to save the victim’s life, the officers transported the victim to University Hospital in their police vehicle for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.
“The officers went above and beyond to ensure that this victim received immediate medical attention,” Director Ambrose added. “This incident could have otherwise ended in a horrible tragedy.”
Detectives investigating this incident are following up all leads, but the suspect remains at large.
