Police officials in Newark are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured a male at a location in the city early Sunday morning.
Rutgers University Police contacted Newark officials when a male entered University Hospital suffering a bullet wound just before 2:53 a.m.
Police say the victim reported that he suffered his injuries at a hotel in downtown Newark.
Units canvassed all of the hotels in the downtown but learned that none of the establishments had evidence of a crime scene.
Police said the uncooperative victim was found near the Game Stop store on Broad and Market then taken by private vehicle to the hospital.
As of 4 a.m., police were not able to ascertain a location for the shooting.
The victim remains in stable condition.
