Police are on the scene of a shooting that occurred in the city's West Ward this afternoon.
Gunfire rang out in the 90's block of Palm Street shortly before 3:15 p.m. sending police and EMS to the scene where a victim was taken to University Hospital in serious condition.
The shooting is the possible result of an armed robbery.
An investigation is underway by Newark Police.
