EMS rushed a severely injured male to St. Joseph's Hospital after a gunman fired several times, striking the victim in the chest during the overnight hours.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Governor Street at approximately 10:20 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive victim lying at that location.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There are no arrests reported at this time.
