Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for a shooting that injured a male in the city’s north district.
According to police, gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 244 North 5th Street just before 5:45 p.m. this evening.
Officers arrived at the scene and found an unidentified male suffering a bullet wound in his stomach.
Police say the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment while police search the area for two dark-colored SUV’s that were observed speeding from the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
