Ocean County

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on March 22nd detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutors Office Narcotics Strike Force, Lacey Township Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit, Berkeley Township Police Department, and Toms River Police Department collaborated to conduct an undercover investigation into illegal drug activity in Ocean County.

Officials say the investigation ultimately identified Zachary Lockwood, 20, of Toms River, and Brittany Serovinski, 21, of Brick Township, to be engaged in the distribution of heroin and cocaine in the Ocean County area.

During the course of the investigation, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force Detectives located Lockwood and Serovinski operating a 2002 Blue Ford Explorer in the parking lot of the Shop Rite on Route 37 in Toms River. While conducting surveillance of Lockwood and Serovinski, Detectives observed them engage in suspicious activity indicative of an illicit drug sale with a female later identified as Nicole Davison, 35, of Waretown.

Prosecutor’s Office Detectives approached the car, Lockwood, who was seated in the driver’s seat, began to reach into the center console and behind the seat. As the officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle, Lockwood became combative, resisted arrest, and caused injury to one of the Detectives who required treatment at the scene for his injuries.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded flair gun behind the seat as well as a large machete knife. Additionally, approximately 200 individual dosage units of heroin and quantities of cocaine were located and seized from the vehicle. Davison was also found to be in possession of cocaine.

Police charged Zachary Lockwood with Distribution of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute in a Quantity Less than One-half Ounce, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute in a Quantity Less than One-half Ounce, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Resisting Arrest. Lockwood is lodged in the Ocean County jail pending a detention hearing.

Serovinski was released pending a future court date.

The public and media are reminded that all defendants are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
