The Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and Newark Police are investigating an early morning shooting that resulted in a homicide. Authorities said Cassan Powell, 29, of Irvington was fatally shot in the 700 block of Springfield Ave in Newark.
Police said two other victims were shot but survived. The shootings occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. authorities said.
Detectives have been unable to determine the motive as the investigation is active and ongoing authorities said.
