Man Shot Dead in Newark's East Ward Identified by Authorities

A shooting that left a man dead in the city's East Ward has police  investigating. 

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable announced today that Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the fatal shooting of Julio Martinez.
 
Last night at approximately 8:45 p.m. Martinez, 35, of Newark sustained multiple gun shot wounds in the vicinity of 75-77 South Street in Newark. At 9:06 p.m. he was pronounced dead at University Hospital.
 
The investigation is active an ongoing. No arrests have been made.
