Police in Paterson are on the search for a suspect who fired off several rounds from a gun in a neighborhood that struck and injured one person overnight.
According to police, officials at the St. Joseph's Hospital contacted police when an unidentified person entered the emergency department just before 4:05 a.m. sufferign a gunshot wound to the face.
Shortly before the call came in from the hospital, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of gunfire in the area of 251 Broadway according to police.
Units arrived at the scene and began a search for evidence and shell casings.
The victim was listed in stable condition and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
