Police in Paterson are on the search for two suspects who fled the scene in a vehicle after firing shots at a potential victim on a street in the city overnight.
Gunfire erupted in the 70's block of Spruce Street at approximately 2:45 a.m. sending police to the scene where they found evidence that a shooting occurred but after a thorough search of the area, there were no gunshot victims reported.
Police say the victim reported that suspects occupying a dark-colored Mercedes Benz SUV were armed with a rifle when they began firing in his direction.
At least one bullet struck a building at that location accordig to officials.
The motive for the shooting remains under investgiation.
