Police Say No Evidence Found of Reported Shooting in Elizabeth

Police said today that there was no evidence that an Irvington man was shot in Elizabeth Monday afternoon.

Monday around 1 p.m., 30-year-old, Anthony Crocks of Irvington walked into Trinitas Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

After police were alerted, Crocks who was uncooperative told police he was shot at the intersection of Routes 1 and 9 and Olive Street.

Officers went to the location where Crocks claimed he was shot and found no evidence or indication of a crime, Capt. William Pinho said.

"He was very, very uncooperative," Capt. William Pinho said. "We're not even sure if he was even shot in Elizabeth," Pinho added.

Crocks identified suspect as a young, thin black man with dreadlocks.

Crocks suffered a non-life threatening shot to his arm, the captain added.
