UPDATE: Warrant Issued for Man Wanted for Shooting Woman in Newark

Police in Newark seeks the public’s help in locating **Mr. Oscar Caraballo, 40, of Newark,** wanted for an aggravated assault shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, October 4th.

According to police, the incident happened at approximately 11:00 a.m., where police responded to reports of shots fired and arrived to find the severely injured woman.

Police say the victim was taken to University Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim reported that an unknown person opened fire on her as she was walking in the 300 block of 4th Avenue.

Detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team investigating this incident have developed sufficient evidence identifying Caraballo as the suspect.

Detectives have obtained a warrant for his arrest; charging him with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and the unlawful possession of a firearm.

This is an on-going investigation. While police are actively searching for Caraballo, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets.
