Police in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that left a male injured on Saturday night in the city.
According to preliminary reports, officials at the University Hospital contacted police when a male victim suffering a gunshot wound entered the emergency department shortly before 8:30 p.m.
The victim reported to police that the incident occurred in the vicinity of South Orange Avenue and South 14th Street, but a search of the area reportedly did not indicate a crime scene.
Police checked the area of Avon Avenue and Farley; then Clinton Avenue where evidence that a shooting occurred was located.
Newark Police detectives are attempting to find a motive for the shooting.
The victim remains in stable condition.
