Linden Elementary School to Host 2nd Walk and Talk With Dad”

Linden

Linden’s School No. 2 will celebrate its second annual “Walk and Talk With Dad” event on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

School officials say the elementary school is encouraging its students’ fathers to walk their children to school that day, and to take part in a series of activities at the school, including games, breakfast and a special presentation.

The event coincides with national “Dads Take Your Child to School Day,” and is meant to emphasize the importance of fathers in their children’s academic and social development.

This year’s event will have a superhero theme and follows the program’s very successful debut a year ago. Principal Atiya Perkins said in 2017 that she was hoping 30 or 40 fathers would come to school, but was delighted when more than 300 fathers showed up.

“We’re so excited for our second annual,” Perkins said in a video invitation to the fathers. “Come on out to School No. 2 and let us celebrate you – the superhero that you are!”

According to school officials, the event is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. School No. 2 is the largest of Linden’s eight elementary schools, with more than 600 students and 130 staff members. It is located at 1700 South Wood Avenue.
