A vehicle occupied by several suspects that was reportedly carjacked from a neighborhood in Elizabeth on Friday is now wanted for a violent shooting that left a male injured in Newark.
It happened on the border of Newark and Hillside where police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of Hansbury and Maple avenues at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Units arriving at the scene found shell casings near 112 Maple Avenue but could not immediately locate a victim according to preliminary reports.
Police canvassing the area found the victim near Maple and Winans Avenue in Hillside suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Newark authorities are looking for a silver Chrysler 300 with a reported NJ license plate number "J13-JFG."
A vehicle fitting the description was carjacked at gunpoint in Elizabeth on Friday night according to reports. The car was last observed in the vicinity of South 9th Street and 14th Avenue after the South Ward shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
