Authorities in Newark are investigating overnight shootings that left three people with non-life threatening injuries in the city.
Police responded to shots fired in the 20's block of Johnson Ave. where a male victim was shot in the hand shortly before 10:30 p.m. The victim was taken to University Hospital where is was treated and released. A search of the scene had police recovering several shell casings. An investigation is underway to find the motive for the shooting.
Several rounds of gunfire that rang out in the 100 block of Lincoln Ave. late last evening had police rushing to the scene where a male victim was found shot multiple times to the lower body. The victim was taken to University Hospital where he is expected to survive his injuries. The suspects reportedly fled in an unknown vehicle.
An early morning shooting that occurred in the 100 block Aldine Street has police investigating. The male victim was transported to University Hospital via private vehicle around 1 a.m. where he was reportedly struck to the lower body. Police searched the area for evidence and possible suspects responsible for the shooting. A dark colored Jeep was last seen leaving the area.
The victim is expected to survive. It was not immediately clear if the shootings are connected.
