Police in newark are actively investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in a neighborhood in the city's West Ward overnight.
The early morning shooting happened in the 60's block of Chelsea Avenue just before 6 a.m.
According to preliminary reports, at least one gunman arrived in the residential neighborhood and began to open fire in the area striking two cars in the vicinity of 67 Chelsea Avenue.
One of the vehicles had multiple bullet holes inside while the other had a bullet hole in the windshield.
Police arrived at the scene and closed off the block where they then began a search for injured victims.
There were no victims found at that location according to police.
Detectives marked off over a dozen shell casings as the continued to search for a motive for the shooting.
