Police in Newark are actively investigating a shooting that caused injuries in Newark's North Ward overnight.

Unites arrived at the scene and requested EMS after they located a male victim bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound according to reports.

Police closed off a significant portion of the area where they searched for other victims and a crime scene when they located shell casings in the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue.

During the investigation, hospital officials contacted police after a male victim entered the emergency department suffering an apparent gunshot wound.

Police are attempting to determine if the walk-in victim suffered his injuries at the Bloomfield Avenue crime scene.

There were multiple shots fired incidents around the city during the overnight hours.
