Newark Police are checking several neighborhoods in the North Ward for a crime scene after a person suffering a gunshot wound was dropped off at Clara Maass Hospital in a taxi cab.
Hospital officials contacted police when a male showed up at the hospital suffering a gunshot wound to the leg at around 7:15 p.m.
The victim told police that the incident happened in the area of 4th Avenue and North 6th Street shortly before he arrived at the hospital.
The victim will be transferred by EMS to University Hospital in Newark with the non-life-threatening injuries.
