Newark Police Investigates Shooting That Injured Man

Several suspects are being sought by police in Newark for their involvement in a shooting that left a man injured in the city Saturday night.

According to authorities, a dark-colored Jeep, occupied by several males, pulled up in the 200 block of 16th Avenue at around 8 p.m. and fired multiple shots at a man causing serious injuries.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where his injuries were not reported as life-threatening.

Police were able to catch up with the vehicle on 13th Avenue where they attempted to pull the Jeep over when the driver sped off leading police on a high-speed pursuit that ended near mile marker 52 of I-78 in Newark.

Authorities are investigating a motive for the shooting.
