Authorities in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for a violent shooting that left a man injured in the city overnight.
The shooting happened just before midnight, sending police to the scene after gunshots rang out in the vicinity of Bloomfield Avenue and Garside Street.
Upon arrival, police officers found a severely injured male suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
EMS rushed the man to University Hospital where he received treatment and remains in critical condition according to reports.
The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
