Newark Police detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 100 block of South 4th Street this afternoon.
Police officials said the investigation is in its primary stages as detectives attempt to determine exactly what transpired between the victim and the suspect, who know each another.
The altercation resulted in one of the two men being shot police said.
The victim is being treated at University Hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound according to authorities.'
Police are searching for the shooting victim's 2016 Black Nissan Juke, which was taken during the confrontation.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
