Police are investigating a daytime shooting that sent at least one person to the hospital in Elizabeth.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the area of Elizabeth Avenue and 5th Street for a report of shots fired sometime before 11a.m.
Upon arrival, officers established a crime scene after a person was found suffering from a gunshot wound at that location.
The shooting is believed to have occurred between Marshall Street and Elizabeth Avenue where at least four shell casings were recovered by authorities.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in unknown condition.
The motive of the shooting remains under investigation.
