Palisades Park Police Officer Charged with Illegal Drugs, Weapons Possession

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrests of Palisades Park Police officer Mr. Richard J. Giacobone 39, of Fort Lee, on charges of possession of Anabolic Steroids, Cocaine, Marijuana, and Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines and Licensed Practical Nurse Sarang Cho, 28, on charges of possessing THC edibles.

Authorities said on Thursday, November 9th, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information from the Palisades Park Police Department that one of their police officers, Richard J. Giacobone, may be under the influence of illegal narcotics.

As a result of the information received, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit, Narcotic Task Force, and the Fort Lee Police Department initiated an investigation which led to a search warrant of Giacabone’s residence.

As a result of the investigation, authorities arrested Giacobone November 9th then charged him with one count of Possession of Anabolic Steroids, one count of Possession of Cocaine, one count of Possession of Marijuana, and one count of Possession of Large Capacity Magazines.

Authorities said Giacobone is scheduled for a first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 8:30 a.m.

Authorities said Sarang CHO was arrested on Monday, November 13th in Paramus, NJ and charged with one count of Possession of THC edibles.

Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and would also like to thank the Fort Lee Police Department and the Palisades Park Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
