Man Wanted for Newark East Ward Double Shooting

Police in Newark seeks the public’s help in locating **Mr. Aaron Perez, 21, of Newark,** who is wanted for an aggravated assault shooting that occurred on Monday, October 16th.

According to police officials, at approximately 10:35 p.m., officers responded to Cortland Street, near Horatio Street, on a call of shots fired.

Upon arrival to the scene, police said two males, both wearing all black, with black ski masks, fired weapons at each other and a male victim shot at that location.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Police also responded to calls for shots fired at Hawkins and Horatio streets, followed by a call of a man shot in the 100-block of Brill Street where they found a second male victim injured by gunfire.

Police said EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Detectives developed sufficient evidence to identify Aaron Perez as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

While police are actively searching for Perez, they seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from city streets.
