Police in Newark announced the arrest of Mr. Rashid Spates, 29, of Newark, who they said was wanted for possession of a weapon in connection with an incident that occurred on Saturday, October 28th.
According to police, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to 33 Narin Place after a ShotSpotter alert.
Police said although there were no reported injuries, a residence in the area showed evidence of being struck.
Detectives investigating the incident developed sufficient evidence to identify Rashid Spates as a suspect in the shooting authorities said.
Police arrested Mr. Spates on November 2nd without incident then charged him with Criminal Mischief, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Contempt of Court and possession of marijuana found on his person during the arrest.
These are accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
