Newark Police are investigating a shooting that sent a male to the hospital this afternoon in the city's East Ward.
Gunfire erupted in the 20's block of Riverview Terrace shortly after 1 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found evidence that a shooting occurred at that location.
EMS transported a male victim to University Hospital suffering gunshot wounds to the face and arm according to reports.
Police set up a crime scene where they searched for evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
