There were no immediate reports of injuries in an incident where gunfire erupted in Newark's North Ward overnight.
Several police units responded to the 40's block of McCarter Highway after they received reports of shots fired at that location.
Arriving police officers canvassed the scene and found at least one shell casings in the vicinity of 49 McCarter Highway according to reports.
The incident is reported to be an attempted armed robbery, but the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The suspects remain at-large.
