Police in Newark checked an East Ward neighborhood for shell casings after a person suffering gunshot injuries arrived at a city hospital this morning.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was dropped off by private vehicle to the St. Michaels Hospital where he was treated then transported to University Hospital for further assistance by doctors.
Officers canvassed the 200 block of South Street for a crime scene after authorities learned that there were possible shots fired reports.
A dark colored vehicle -possibly a Toyota- transported the victim to the hospital then drove away according to reports.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
