Authorities Investigate Two Additional Newark South Ward Shootings

Police in Newark are investigating shootings that sent two males to the hospital this evening.

According to officials, officers were investigating a shooting with at least two people suffering life-threatening injuries on Clinton and Irvine Turner Boulevard, scrambled to the area of Clinton Avenue and Hunterdon Street at around 6:30 p.m. when they heard multiple gunshot blasts.

Units arrived at the scene to find a man suffering a gunshot wound and a vehicle with one of the windows blown out.

The female driver of the vehicle appeared visually shaken, but she did not suffer any physical injuries.

EMS transported the shooting victim to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.

Shortly after the Hunterdon Street shooting, gunfire rang out in the 100 block of Seymore Avenue sending police to the scene where they found a male suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed an active investigation for the Irvine Turner Boulevard Shooting, but they did not immediately release a fatality amount.

It is not known if the shootings are connected.
