Shooting Leaves Man with Serious Eye Injury in Newark's South Ward

There were serious injuries reported for the victim of a shooting that occurred in Newark's South Ward overnight.

According to authorities, gunfire rang out at around 9:35 near the intersection of Lyons Avenue and Clinton Place sending police to the scene where a search of the area had officers locate a crime scene, but no victims were found.

The victim was found a short time later in the 200 block of Weequahic Avenue suffering the injury.

EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where he's in stable condition after reportedly undergoing surgery for his wounds.

Police are investigating a motive for the shooting.

There were no arrests reported.
