A rapid exchange of gunfire between suspects occupying two vehicles in Newark has police searching for the suspects.
Police set up a crime scene at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street shortly before 6:30 p.m. where officers canvassed the area and found multiple shell casings at that location.
According to preliminary reports, two vehicles occupied by several males pulled up alongside each other and began to fire shots in the direction of each other's vehicle.
About three people were transported to University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries after their vehicle was struck by one of the fleeing suspect's vehicle, but there were no victims found suffering gunshot wounds according to reports.
One of the suspect's vehicle hit a nearby pole with the men running from the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
