Newark Shooting Suspect Sought

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a male wanted in connection with last night's shooting.

According to police, at approximately 10 p.m., the suspect shot a 38-year-old man near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. and Crane Street before fleeing on the bicycle.

The victim was transported to the hospital where doctors treated then released him for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The suspect was last seen wearing an orange or red hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers while riding a white/silver BMX-style bicycle last seen headed west on Crane Street toward Summer Avenue.

While police are actively searching for the suspect, police seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing the suspect from the streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
