Firefighters in Newark swiftly extinguished a fire that ignited a vehicle early this morning while police investigated shots fired that erupted in the same neighborhood.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 500 block of Avon Avenue after 1 a.m. where upon their arrival, officers found a vehicle on fire at that location with multiple rounds of gunfire that struck it.
There were no injuries reported in the shooting and firefighters found no victims inside the vehicle.
Police setup a crime scene where they searched for evidence to support the motive for the incident.
