Authorities Identify 29-Year-Old Man Found Shot Dead in Newark Car

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable have announced that authorities are investigating a fatal shooting early this morning in Newark, NJ.  

Authorities said shortly after midnight, Newark police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Avon Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue on a report of a shooting. Arriving officers discovered an unresponsive male inside a vehicle at this location.

The male, who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:40 a.m. The victim has been identified as Ernest Bradley, age 29 of Newark. This incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department. The investigation is ongoing at this time, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.
