A brief pursuit of a vehicle occupied by suspects wanted for a shooting in a neighborhood in Newark had police detain several males suspects early this morning.
The incident unfolded in the 300 block of Fairmont Avenue when police were called to the scene after reports of shots fired rang out in the area.
The vehicle sped away from the scene and was observed by police officers in the area of 16th Avenue and Fairmont Avenue according to preliminary reports.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of South Orange Avenue and Maybaum where the suspects were held.
Police setup a crime scene on Fairmont Avenue where they located several shell casings, but there were no injuries immediately reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
