A shooting that sent a man to the hospital in Newark today has police investigating.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of South 14 Street near Avon at around noon where officers arriving at the scene found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the back.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital suffering serious injuries.
Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for evidence and possible suspects.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
