Police are on the scene of shots fired with a man down in the city at this time.
A male victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds have been rushed to University Hospital after police found the man outside of The Newark Health Department building at 110 William Street which across the street from the Newark Police communications building at around 4:30 p.m.
A crime scene has been established with police blocking the intersection at this time.
Expect heavy delays in the area and avoid if you can.
The victim is in critical condition at this time. (updated 5:53 p.m.)
Police are looking for a green vehicle that sped away from the scene after the shooting.
There are several schools in the immediate area but the victim was not reported to be a school aged child.
