Police Search for Suspect Wanted for Shooting Woman in Newark

A $200,000.00 warrant has been issued for **Leshawne McGee, 19,** in connection with a shooting on Friday, August 26, 2016.

Authorities said approximately 12:40 a.m., Newark Police responded to the area of South Orange and Fairmount avenues on a report of shots fired.

Officers were notified that a 20-year old female victim had arrived at University Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot injury sustained in the area of South Orange and Fairmount Avenues according to police.

Police said, as part of their investigation, detectives developed evidence that Leshawne McGee is a suspect in this shooting.

While police are actively searching for this suspect, police seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets.

This investigation is active and ongoing authorities said.

**These are mere accusations lodged against McGee. He is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law when he is captured or surrenders to authorities.**
