Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that left one person injured on the 100 block of Maybaum St. in the city's West Ward.
Police responded to shots fired shortly before 6 PM this evening where upon their arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was taken to University Hospital in serious condition a short time later.
Police from Newark and East Orange conducted investigations on the scene as the shooting occurred in close proximity to the East Orange border. A burgundy vehicle, possibly a Chrysler, reportedly fled the scene.
There was no description of the suspect.
