A shooting in the city's East Ward sent one person to the hospital Monday evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Chapel Street and Riverview Court at around 7 p.m. where officers located a male victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot injury according to reports.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where he was treated for a foot injury reports said.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Newark Police.
There have been no immediate reports of arrests made.
