Police in Newark are investigating multiple overnight shootings that left two people injured. In the first incident, police responded to shots fired in the 200 block of South 8th Street a little before midnight to find a man shot in the leg. The man was taken to University Hospital in Newark where his injuries were not considered life threatening.
About an hour later, gun blast rang out on the 700 block of North 7th Street sending police rushing to the scene where they found a man shot to the leg. The man was taken to University Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Police set up a crime scene in the area where they searched for shell casings and other evidence.
There were no arrest in either shootings.
