There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that injured a female in a section of Newark's Central Ward Friday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the single-digit block of Marion Place -near West Kinney- around 4 a.m.
Police found a female suffering bullet wounds when they arrived at the scene.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment while police and detectives checked the area for a crime scene according to authorities.
The extent of the woman's injuries have not been released at this time.
Police have made no arrests in the shooting incident.
