A violent overnight in Newark left at least three people shot and injured in the city.
The sound of gunfire ripped through the area Elizabeth Ave. and Custer Avenue shortly before 10:15 p.m. rushing multiple police units to the scene where upon arrival they found a male victim suffering gunshot wounds.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital with gunshot wounds to both legs.
Shortly 2:30 a.m., police responded to the area of South 12th Street and Springfield Ave. where they arrived to find a female victim shot at that location.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital reportedly suffering a gunshot wound to the neck. The woman was reported to be around the age of 30-years-old. Her condition was only reported to be serious.
Wild gunfire erupted near a club in the 100 block of Aldine Street at around 4:30 a.m. sending dozens of people scattering for safety and police rushing to the scene.
One person was transported by private vehicle to Beth Israel Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Residents in the area said a second victim that was shot at that location, reportedly walked the two block distance to the hospital.
We could not immediately confirm these accounts for this victim.
All of the overnight shootings are under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
