The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into a shooting that seriously injured a woman in Paterson during the overnight hours.
According to police, gunfire rang out in the area of 98 Oak Street around 2:05 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found a bleeding female victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
Police say the unidentified woman was rushed to St. Joseph's Medical Center for treatment and remains in serious condition, according to preliminary reports.
Detectives taped off the area and began to search for evidence and a possible suspect, but there were no arrests reported.
