A shooting that left a woman seriously injured in Elizabeth overnight has authorities searching for the shooter.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 400 block of Westminster Avenue shortly before midnight.
Units arriving at the scene found a 45-year-old woman suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
EMS rushed the woman to University Hospital in serious condition, according to reports.
Police searched several parts of the city for a vehicle that sped away from the scene after the shooting.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Elizabeth Police.
