Passaic Woman Robbed While Walking in Linden

A 25-year-old Passaic woman walking on E. Henry Street told police she was robbed early Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the Passaic woman was walking on the 1200 block of E. Henry St. when she was approached by a man who began to “flirt” with her shortly after 12 p.m., Captain James Sarnicki said.

The victim then told suspect that she had a boyfriend and that she would call him unless he left her alone. The man then grabbed her purse and began to run.

Police said that the victim’s boyfriend, who was in the vicinity, witnessed the theft and chased the suspect before confronting him on the 1200 block of Union Street.

The suspect then turned around and reached to his waistband as if he was going to produce a weapon but simply dropped the purse and disappeared into the backyards., said the captain.

The purse was missing its contents which included $350 cash, an Apple iPhone, and personal documents.

Responding officers searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect, Sarnicki added.
