Woman said She Was Beat in the Face with Gun During Strong Armed Carjacking in Orange

Police chased a vehicle into East Orange occupied by suspects wanted for a carjacking that had a woman physically attacked in Orange on Tuesday night.

According to a preliminary investigation, officers from West Orange Police transported a woman to Orange Police Department who alleged that she was the victim of a carjacking incident that occurred in the area of South Jefferson and Joyce streets shortly before 10 p.m.

According to police, the victim said while in the area, a black male who she described as medium build, about 5’9” in height approached the drivers side of her car and struck her in the left side of her face with an object that looked like a handgun then forcefully shoved her to the passenger side of the vehicle.

Police spotted the vehicle and began chasing it until it crashed in the vicinity of 60 Parkway Drive.

Authorities say the suspects ran from the scene and remain at large but after a brief search of the car, they found the emotionally distressed and physically injured woman inside the car.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
