Woman Killed After Exiting Vehicle on Camden County Highway

New Jersey State Police officials are investigating a pedestrian strike that left a woman dead in Camden County early New Year's morning.

According to a brief statement released by NJ State police, the unidentified woman exited her Toyota Camry that was parked on the right shoulder of Route 676 in Camden at around 1:15 a.m and was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox.,

State Police officials said the woman was the only one traveling in the vehicle during the time of the incident.

Officials say they are not sure why the woman was out of the car but the driver of the Equinox, also a woman, was one of four people in the SUV, remained at the scene.

The cause of the crash and the reason the driver of the Camry got out of her car remains under investigation officials said.
