There is an active and ongoing investigation underway into a shooting that injured a female in a section of Newark's South Ward early Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, several rounds of gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 608 Irvine Turner Boulevard just before 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, police requested EMS in a rush after they reportedly found the victim suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police say the woman was transported to University Hospital for treatment while detectives canvassed the area for other victims and potential suspects.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation and the suspect is at-large.
